NLP the accepted abbreviation for neuro linguistic programming is not a new concept although it is only in the last decade that it has started to become more widely accepted. NLP was originally devised in the 1970s and was the joint brainchild of a mathematician and computer scientist, Richard Bandler, and a professor in linguistics, John Grinder.
Combining their expertise, Bandler and Grinder came up with a system that would revolutionise the way in which the way in which communication and personal development was approached. Since this initial creation of what was dubbed NLP, it has moved on even further and is now used in a great range of fields including not just education but also marketing, management, counselling, medical, legal, sales and training. NLP is also a formally recognized type of psychotherapy.
Many of us are now aware of research into left and right brain function, learning styles and accelerating learning. NLP encompasses all of these areas and moves them beyond theory into application in the classroom. NLP uses language in powerful and elegant ways to ensure students really understand and are motivated to explore and learn more. Teaching becomes easier and more enjoyable when you have the skills, behaviours, and attitudes of NLP to help you.
Richard Bandler says;
“Our greatest asset for the future is our children. We are not investing in our greatest asset. We need to pay our teachers better, train them in learning strategies, and reward them for success. After all knowledge is developing at an accelerating rate, to the point where people have to be able to learn as fast as they can. Teachers need to teach children to learn things quickly. We have to get people into the right state of learning only what works and not worrying about mistakes because there is no time.”
We expect students to mug-up or learn some things and when the student complaints that s/he is not able to learn any particular thing, then sing the jingle that we have been listening since generation, ‘keep repeating and it will happen.’ But in reality the answer hardly even serves quarter of the requirement. The result is that the things student is able to learn for the exam days of a session, gets vanish after that period and we get another topic to complain.
Mnemonic is a memory technique designed to help students improve their Learning and Retaining of important information. This technique connects new learning to prior knowledge through the use of visual and/or acoustic cues. The basic types of mnemonic strategies rely on the use of key words, rhyming words, or acronyms. Teachers may develop mnemonic strategies or have students come up with their own.
Mnemonic with NLP Program helps students to relate new information to what they have already learned through visual and verbal cues. The approach is often used in special education classes, but it can be applied in any class. Its success lies in enhancement of initial processing of information and leads to better retrieval of that information at a later time. NLP ‘ teaches you many powerful NLP techniques to help you learn new things faster, remove fear of examination, improve learning , re-program your mind to like subjects that you hated in the past , write exams comfortably etc.

There are many skilled and experienced teachers working tirelessly to educate our young people. It’s not about a group of ”experts” telling them what they should be doing in the classroom but taking the best teachers we have and giving them even more tools to utilize to improve learning. Teaching is becoming increasingly challenging with disruption in the classroom and increasing emphasis on targets and paperwork. NLP can really benefit teachers themselves in managing their own state, beliefs and attitudes and most of all maintaining a sense of humor!
Education is no longer delivered in the rigid formula used many decades ago, but is seen as an interactive experience with both the teacher and the student taking an active role. Additionally of course, there are many different styles of learning so teachers need to be flexible in order to meet the needs of each individual member of the class.
Said to be highly congruent to Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences, too neuro-linguistic programming techniques, perceptual positioning and presupposition, are deemed useful in solving problems encountered in teaching.

By doing this they can see how things can be done differently in order to achieve the desired results.

Studies show that most people leave organisations because they do not feel valued by their employers and bosses. This process ensures that we are able to work with our staff to enable them to see how their role fits within the overall value produced by the organization and how that value fits within and compliments their own personal values structure. NLP is one of the most powerful sets of tools available for personal and professional transformation. Drawn from a wide range of disciplines, including cognitive and social psychology, it enables ordinary people to achieve extraordinary results.
Many of our behaviours are unconscious to us, which means that if you ask someone how they are doing something really well they often can’t give you a specific answer. They don’t know! NLP is about how we can understand the language of the mind to produce outstanding outcomes and uncover where we may have problems. We learn how our attitude will affect our results. NLP promotes a can do attitude, an attitude of excitement and curiosity and provides models to help us understand in which areas of life we are being proactive and in which we tend to be reactive.

DEPRESSION BREAKTHROUGH (Understand and Break the Cycle of Depression)
We all go through tough times, When we do, little things can make a big difference to how we feel and how we cope with Life`s Ups and Downs. Depression having been on the increase for years, it is far easier to breakthrough and move beyond depression than what many people is led to believe.
A Recent study conducted by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India showed that 42.5 percent of employees in the Indian private sector are afflicted with general anxiety disorder or depression, as compared to government employees. This is attributed to less pay and more working hours which contribute to an atmosphere of constant fatigue. This further leads to stress and frustration, thereby acutely affecting mental health.
A private sector employee in India works for a minimum of 48-50 hours a week when compared to 33 hours a week in UK and 40 hours a week in US. This leads to extremely demanding schedules, elevated stress level and performance pressure. Stress and frustration don’t take time to metamorphose into anxiety and depression. In such situations, restlessness, exhaustion, anger, guilt, recurrent panic attacks, suicidal thoughts are also regular guests. No wonder the corporate world is often compared to a roller coaster ride because of the perks and exhilarating highs punctuated with miserably depressing lows.

A Complete Breakthrough Program for Stress and Anxiety Management
Stress plays a massive role in twenty-first century life, and is one of the primary reasons why people take long periods of time off work. But while we cannot avoid life’s pressures, we can influence the extent of which these pressures affect us and also how we react to them. Nearly half the employees in India suffer from some kind of stress, according to the findings of the latest survey by A Health Information Technology and Services firm that is part of UnitedHealth Group known as “Optum”. Work, money and family are the most common sources of stress, the surveys found. Other factors include parenting, pregnancy, change, caregiving and social isolation. Anxiety due to personal or professional reasons leads to stress, which then turns into depression. The survey was conducted among 800,000 employees in 70 large companies, each with a minimum workforce of 4,500.
Another Survey showed that the proportion of workers at high risk of suicide due to unmanaged stress has grown to 8% of all counseling cases from 2-4% in recent years.
Stress levels are rising among employed Indians owing to growing uncertainty in jobs in a highly disruptive environment as well as increasing anxiety in personal lives, studies have revealed. Increasing stress has, in turn, led to a surge in the number of people who are suffering from depression and are at high risk of suicide. Employers, therefore, face an increasing challenge of dealing with workers who are not only personally depressed but may also adversely impact the productivity of their organisations
